Emotional Health and Well being at South Kirkby Academy

During a child’s educational journey they spend approximately 8000 hours at school. With children spending such a vast portion of their time in the classroom, this places school in a ideal position to promote positive emotional well being and identify’s early changes in behavior and signs of mental distress. Emotional well being is accurate indicator of academic achievement and success in later life. Research has demonstrated that health and well being provision in school can lead to significant results in children’s mental health, social and emotional skills. Well being provision in school can also lead to a reduction of classroom misbehavior and bullying learning social and emotional skills knowledge and behaviors within the classroom can help children to build resilience and develop a routine for how they will manage their mental health.

At South Kirkby Academy we have a dedicated well being team who are devoted to supporting the emotional needs of all pupils.
